Sarah Wood

Sarah is a Wirral-based artist. She studied botanical art with the Society of Botanical Artists and is now a fellow of the Society.

She has had articles published in many leading art magazines: International Artist, Leisure Painter, Paint, and The Art of Watercolour. Several have been reprinted and translated into sister magazines in France: Pratique des Arts and L' Art De l' Aquarelle. She has paintings published in books Concours modial de l'aquarelle Le Catalogue, and Tulipa, Tulipae El tulipan ilustrado, also an article in Margaret Stevens' book Botanical Painting with the Society of Botanical Artists.

She has won several awards including the St Cuthbert’s Mill Award and the Margaret Granger Memorial Silver Bowl with the Society of Botanical Artists, the Schmincke Award with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, the Maureen Hinchcliffe Award with Wirral Society of Arts, the Barbie Coates Trophy and the Les Wickes Memorial Trophy with Irby Artists’ Association.

Sarah has exhibited in Frankfurt, Madrid, Florida, London, and at home on the Wirral in England.

She is also a member of North Wales Society of Fine Art, Wirral Society of Arts, Grosvenor Art Society and Irby Artists' Association.

“I strive for representative and realistic images. I believe art should have the power to transform the commonplace into the exceptional. I look for beauty in the simplest subjects: foliage, grasses and raindrops.”
